7. Abraham Arsenault
Abraham Arsenault, son of Jean-Baptiste and Madeleine Gallant, was born at Riviere Platte on Malpéque Bay. His birth date is unknown. He was the brother of Eustache Arsenault (See Chapter 4). Around 1794, he married Marguerite Arsenault, daughter of Joseph (Magitte) Arsenault and Marie Bourgeois.
Abraham and his wife were among the founders of Abram's Village around 1812. It has been often stated and written that the village was named after him. This seems not to have been the case. The original French name, "Village des Abrams" refers to his grandfather, "le petit Abraham" (See Chapter 2) whose descendants "les Abrams" (Abram's descendants) were the main pioneers of the village.
In 1828, Abraham Arsenault received the deed for a farm of 100 acres which he had been clearing for a number of years. Today this property belongs to the descendants of Aubin J.N. Gallant. Aubin’s wife was Annie, daughter of Marie-Anne, daughter of Dominique, son of Jean, son of Abraham Arsenault.
It is believed that Abraham and Marguerite Arsenault had 12 children, two of whom died in infancy.
