10. Léon and Marie Arsenault

She went to the fountain with the girls and while she was gone, Little Jack, who was hiding around the house, went in and hid behind the bedroom door. They came back home with the water, and all the while Little Jack was hiding in the bedroom. They went to bed. When Little Jack thought that they were sleeping, he started pulling on the golden sheet. The Long-Toothed Mother said:

“What are you doing? You are pulling on the sheet!”

“Mother, I didn't touch the sheet. I was sleeping.”

Little Jack stopped. After a while, he did the same thing, he started pulling on the sheet. She said to the other girl:

“You are pulling on the sheet. You are bothering me!”

‘No, she said, it's not me! I'm not doing that.”

The Long-Tooth Mother said:

“There must be someone hiding under the bed.”

So, she got up and found Little Jack under the bed.

“Oh, you bad boy! You're going to get it now that I have caught you.”

She took a big bag, threw him in, tied it and placed it in a corner of the room. She said:

‘Now, I have to think of how I am going to make you suffer.”

She went out. While she left the room, he took a small knife, cut the bag open and got out. He caught the two girls and put both of them in the bag. He reached for the plates, knives and

forks to fill up the bag. He took the golden sheet and hid.

The Long-Toothed Mother arrived with a long whip. She said:

“You're going to catch it now, son!” She started whipping, whipping, and whipping the sac. She heard: “Mother, you are hurting me!”

“Oh yeah! call me mother, now!”
