19. Dorothy Arsenault Morgan
Dorothy arrived into the world on Candlemas Day, 2 February 1922. She was named in memory of baby Dorothy, her little sister who died the previous year at the age of nine months. The name Dorothy, which means "a gift of God" in Greek, was unknown in the region at the time. Marie and Léon first became aware of it because of their niece, Dorothy Jenkins, daughter of Aunt Angéline (a Damien) who lived in Bath, Maine.
Dorothy attended the local school for eight years. Among her teachers she had two of her future sisters-in-law, Irene Arsenault and Eugénie Gallant. As she was only fourteen when she quit school, she stayed home to help her mother who was having health problems. Work was plentiful at Ohome as it was during the years when the house was full of young adults, in particular three of her brothers and their helpers, all involved in lobster fishing. With the experience acquired at home, Dorothy soon went out to work as a servant-girl, first in Abram's Village at the home of Arion and Marie-Blanche Arsenault, and then in Summerside for lawyer Adrien Arsenault and contractor Theron Morrison.
