     Hélène Cheverie, d’Abram-Village, a connu les 
     
     expositions des années 1920-30 quand elles se 
     
     déroulaient à la salle paroissiale de Baie-Egmont. 
     
     Son père, Charles M. Arsenault, un pilier de l’Expo- 
     
     sition agricole, a occupé le poste de secrétaire de 
     
     1929 à 1964. 
     
    
   
   
    
     Depuis que j'étais enfant d'école, j’ai bien connu l’Exposition 
     
     agricole. C'était important dans notre famille parce que mon 
     
     père prenait une grosse partie de ça. Pour mon père, 
     
     l'Exposition c'était la chose la plus importante de l’année. II 
     
     travaillait à ça presque toute l’année. Il faisait des réunions 
     
     ici, des réunions des officiers. À part de ça, il faisait un peu 
     
     du travail de tenir les comptes. C’est lui qui envoyait les 
     
     invitations. Mon père aimait ça, il avait beaucoup d’aide de 
     
     ma mère. C'était elle qui écrivait les chèques. Elle y mettait 
     
     beaucoup de temps. 
     
    
   
   
    
     Mon père menait beaucoup d'animaux à l'Exposition. C'était 
     
     surtout mes frères qui préparaient le bétail. Les vaches, ils 
     
     les conduisaient la veille, parce qu’ils les conduisaient à pied 
     
     à partir d'ici. Ils les faisaient marcher jusqu’à la salle 
     
     paroissiale. Mon père avait pas de camion. Les brebis, il les

     Hélène Cheverie, of Abrams Village, remem- 
     
     bers the exhibitions of the 1920s and 30s when 
     
     they were held at the Egmont Bay parish hall. 
     
     Her father, Charles M. Arsenault, a pillar of the 
     
     Agricultural Exhibition, was secretary from the 
     
     year 1929 to 1964. 
     
    
   
   
    
     I knew about the Agricultural Exhibition since I was of 
     
     school age. It was important in our family because my 
     
     father took a keen interest in it. As far as he was concerned, 
     
     the Exhibition was the most important event of the year. He 
     
     worked at it almost year round. He held meetings of the 
     
     officers here in our home. Besides this, he did some of the 
     
     book work. He looked after sending invitations. My father 
     
     enjoyed this and had a lot of help from my mother. She 
     
     was the one who wrote out the cheques. She spent a lot 
     
     of time working for the Exhibition. 
     
    
   
   
    
     My father took many animals to the Exhibition. My 
     
     brothers looked after getting the livestock ready. The 
     
     cows were led to the exhibition grounds the day before 
     
     since they had to be walked from here. They walked 
     
     them as far as the parish hall. My father had no truck. As
