Lessie (Bruce A-1. Jessie (Jinnie) Bruce born 1841, Red Point Prince Edward Island, married August 31, 1869, Georgetown Prince Edward Island, Alexander (Alex) MacLean, born 1829, (son of Alexander MacLean and Janet (also Jannett or Jessie) Kennedy) died 1921, interred at Kingsboro Prince Edward Island, in the East Point Baptist Church Cemetery. Jessie died 1917, interred at Kingsboro Prince Edward Island, in the East Point Baptist Church Cemetery. Alex had taken over the family farm from his father. His mother died the same year as Alex and Jessie's wedding. They continued to run the farm until their deaths. Jessie was known for being a very strong willed, determined woman and not that easy to get along with. However she was very devoted to her family. When her father died, she took her mother into their home and cared for her until her death. They had no children of their own but for some reason in their middle age, they adopted her sister's (Katie's) child Cassie Laura. The adoption is listed in Alex's Bible. Cassie was the apple of their eye and when she suddenly died, they were heartbroken. In the early 1900's, they took their nephew Elliott Bruce and his young wife, Clara Stewart, to live with them with the understanding that the family farm would be left to them. Elliott was a good carpenter, and made many changes in the home. Jessie and Clara could never see eye to eye, and after time Elliott and Clara moved out and took up residence in East Baltic. Shortly after, they took another young man into their home, a minister's son named Roddie Kidson. He helped them run the farm until the time of their deaths. When Alex died, he left the farm to Roddie and his young bride, the former Elsie Ching.
