     Our morale and our community standing were given a much-needed boost 
     
     when we later received the official notice of our marks, which indicated 
     
     that we had failed by very slight margins. This knowledge inspired us with 
     
     a pleasant feeling of confidence with which we returned to school to 
     
     prepare for another attempt. 
     
    

    
     Christmas vacation of that year marked the end of my days in New Haven 
     
     school. Dissatisfied with the new teacher, my parents arranged for my 
     
     transfer to Kelly's Cross where I finished the winter and spring terms 
     
     and went on to pass the Entrance at the July examinations.
