The secretary, Silver Dennis, wrote a letter to the Red Cross for further information regarding a bicycle rodeo and information on display for Centennial Day Handicraft at Provincial Convention. There was a discussion on contacting a girl to represent the institute at Centennial Day in O’Leary. And it was quickly moved and seconded that Donna Smallman be asked to represent them once again in the Potato Blossom Festival. The institute asked the Red Cross for First Aid training to be held in April 1968, if possible. The school children were taken to the park or shore every June and treats were bought for them every Christmas. $5 was donated to the TB League, $10 to Alcoholism Treatment Fund and $3 to White gift box for mental health. Cards were sent to older citizens. Roll call was answered in January 1968 with a donation for children’s pajamas. $5 was given to the O’Leary Women’s Institute and $5 to TB League. Small gifts amounting to no more than $2 would be given to the White Box for mental illness at the hospital store. A thank you card was read from T.J. Harris on the 50th Anniversary. It was reported in May from the District Convention that a prize for most improved would be given to students Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. These are to be given by the presiding institute. Each institute would give $4. In September 1968, the Travelling Apron fund raised $23.65. Institute members canvassed the district for Cancer Fund and $59.75 was collected. “Girls are capable of doing everything men are capable of doing.
