Secretary will contact them for a suitable date. Members decided to canvas for cancer research and money received will be handed in at June meeting. The provincial convention will be discussed at the May meeting. Meeting closed with the WI grace and lunch. The May meeting took place at the institute community centre. President Wanda Adams introduced the guest speaker, Eva Rodgerson, area chairperson for the Red Cross for Water Safety program. Rodgerson spoke on various aspects of water safety and pointed out that P.E.I. is the only province to offer this service to all rural areas. She then focused on why registration fees were increasing again this year and asked for input from the members on how to fundraise to help alleviate the rising cost. She thanked the WI for their ongoing support over the years and expressed willingness to listen to and act upon their concerns or suggestions regarding the program. Wanda Adams thanked Rodgerson for the interesting and informative presentation. Wanda called the meeting to order with a Mother’s Day thought for the month. Sick committee reported one gift to a hospitalized member. They also talked about cleaning the school and decided to do so May 16. Also, it was moved by Silver Dennis and seconded by Freda Woodside that $20 be sent to the Salvation Army. Finally, it was decided that Wanda Adams and Silver Dennis would be delegates to the provincial convention. A discussion regarding inviting their twin Ellerslie WI branch to their June meeting comprised of Silver Dennis, Helen Adams, Betty | Sweet, and Susie Smallman and Wanda Adams looking further into entertainment. The meeting closed with singing God Save the Queen. On June 13, the KWI was pleased to host their twin institute, the Ellerslie WI. Bouquets of spring flowers and apple blossoms provided a festive setting as members sat down to a potluck supper. Following the meal, a get-acquainted time was enjoyed as those present exchanged information about themselves, and their WI group and its role in their community. Entertainment consisted of contests recognizing longest member, longest serving executive positions, etc. Before leaving, president of the Ellerslie WI Mrs. Margarie McCane, thanked the K WI for their hospitality. An abbreviated meeting followed with 11 members answering roll call with a donation for flowers. It was moved and seconded that $40 be sent to the Red Cross Water Safety program.
