Everyone enjoyed a lunch afterwards by the committee in charge.

Isobel Harris hosted the October regular KWI meeting at the community centre. In the absence of the president Orell Smallman, vice president Fairley Yeo chaired the meeting. Members repeated both the Mary Stewart Collect and Mission Statement in unison. Verna Smallman presented the program on how to turn whining into thanksgiving. Correspondence included a letter from Gena Yeo, a member of the mission team. Gena has been asked to focus on sewing supplies as young adults in Rwanda are being taught to sew. This way, they will be able to provide for themselves and their families. It was moved by Joan Smallman and seconded by Harriet MacNeill to give Gena Yeo $50 for the mission group. $40 was collected by the members around the table and some sewing supplies were also collected later. Betty Sweet sent thank you notes to the musicians who entertained at the 150 Celebration Tea, and she included $20 in each of the cards for the young ladies who helped serve. Betty Sweet also reported for the hospital committee and stated that a special machine is needed in the lab. Members were asked to think about suggestions for the 90th Birthday of the WI. Karen Spencer suggested they buy a fridge which was already approved, Harriet MacNeill seconded it. Meeting closed with the

Lords’ Prayer.

The November regular monthly meeting was held at the home of Orell Smallman. She opened the meeting with an Autumn poem, and then welcomed Karen Redden, and Spencer’s mother Barbara to the meeting. Empress McDowell and Wanda Adams presented humorous readings for program. A story was told about a mom and dad who were married 45 years, and their family never visited them. They decided to call the daughter and tell her that they were getting a divorce. She called her brother saying “we have to go and visit mom and dad, they are getting a divorce”. Mom said to dad, “they’re coming for a visit and they are paying their own way”. Roll call was answered by 11 members donating to the Caring Cupboard and a Remembrance Day poem or war story. A thank you note was received from Gena Yeo for the money donated to her mission group LOV Rwanda. Under Notes and News, posters arrived for WI. Island product cooking contest and another poster if the members wanted to advertise anything. The WI board announced there are free computers available for all members. They have been repaired and refurbished and were donated surplus computers. The computers will come pre-loaded with
