A vote of thanks was extended to Betty Sweet for the beautiful job writing Empress McDowell’s memorial for the WI Book of Memories. A committee was formed to make plans for the 90th anniversary of Knutsford Women’s Institute. The celebration will be held at the community centre. Orell, Susan, Verna, Fairley and Betty were appointed. Meeting closed with the Lords Prayer. During the May K WI meeting Karen Roddin was welcomed back from the south. Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved and correspondence included W.I. roadside clean up May 12. Yellow bags were passed out to be placed in mailboxes. Notes and News: Rural Beautification Competition available with good prizes. Karen Roddin will attend the 100 km yard sale the same day in Knutsford school community center. Fairley reported she will apply for grant for New Horizon for 14 tables and 60 chairs and PA system. Kevin Adams will be asked to supply if they are approved. Home Economics convener Verna Smallman gave a talk on safe preserving. Yard sale tables are needed. Joan Smallman will bring eight tables and Susan Smallman will phone 20 people for offers of food for bake sale. Taylor Vardy will volunteer to help: she wants hours for her program. Wanda Adams thanked everyone for remembering her with flowers when she was ill. Isobel Harris reported that people are volunteering to cut grass; Orell Smallman’s grandson for one and many more.
