Betty Sweet reported that she, Isobel, Verna and Orell made 45 lunch bags (which included two sandwiches and two cookies each) and delivered them for pick-up for the Tip-to-Tip bicycle tour to Karen Rodden who traveled all the way from Charlottetown and was the hostess. A social time was

enjoyed by everyone after the meeting was adjourned.

Betty Sweet hosted the November meeting at her home. Citizenship and legislative convener presented a quiz on P.E.I. women in politics. Seven members answered roll call with reading and remembering soldiers who fought in the wars for our peace. School committee will contact MacNevin’s to shut drainpipes. Hospital committee reported that the New to You brought in $1,904 for the month of October and it has been decided to have a sale each month for one week to rid the surplus of items in store. A doctor from South Africa will be taking over Dr. Dickieson’s practice. The WI has received a discussion guide to promote and encourage community dialogue regarding food and its importance. The P.E.I. Food Awareness act will be studied by Betty, Orell, Verna and Fairley and feedback will be submitted to the department of fisheries and agriculture. Orell Smallman moved and Barb Sweet seconded that a hamper be packed for a member in the community. Plans were then discussed for the upcoming Christmas concert to be held in December. Betty reported that the grant was approved for the community centre. The P.E.I. Seniors’ Secretariat is celebrating the power of aging women. Also $300 was received from the West Prince Arts Council. Joan Smallman moved, and Orell seconded that they pay for the meal celebrating their 90th anniversary out of the WI funds at the Mill River Resort. They received congratulations from MLA, Paula Bigger and MP Bobby Morrissey on their 90th anniversary. Betty Sweet presented a list of soldiers in the area who gave their lives in the wars from 1914 to 1949. Lest We Forget. Meeting closed with members repeating, /n Flanders Fields.

The regular meeting of the KWI held was held in December at the home of Susan and Garth Smallman. The Christmas Story was read, and Orell expressed thankfulness for the message of peace, joy and love to all. Roll call was answered by eight members with a tray favour for the hospital patients.
