The St. John's Church, Milton, was built in 1898, designed by William Chritchlow Harris in French Gothic style.
The Womens's Auxilliary was organized in 1909 and has consistantly maintained both the missionary programs and parish guild work.
At first, because of distances and the mode of travel being by horse and wagon or sleigh, there were two branches in the parish, one in South Milton/Winsloe, the other in North Milton. In early days all of the meetings were held in the homes of members when the hostess provided the refreshments. Different ideas were used to earn funds,
an interesting one being the donation once a year of one day's "egg money". Many items of clothing, sewn or knitted were made for
the missionary bales sent once a year to Northern Missions. Also support was given to furnishing the Rectory and to the fund raising teas and suppers for the church.
In later years, first as W.A., now as A.C.W., we still support missionary projects at home and abroad, by quilt making, knitting, used stamp collecting, etc. -
We meet sometimes in homes, sometimes in the Community Hall, for devotions, bible study, and vaious fund raising activities. We remember the new mothers, the sick, and shut-ins, and the bereaved. We support the St. Andrews Inverness Day—Care Centre in different ways and still
furnish redecorating service to the Rectory. We have a prayer partner with whom we correspond, in the person of Archdeacon Caleb Lawrence,
together with his family who serve in Moosonee.
We are a small group of sixteen members, but continue to carry on in A.C.W. purpose.

Mrs. Alton Rodd
