of December last, and it was a most seasonable gift, the winter having thus far been cooler than any ever known on this Island, and there have been more than the usual number of sick to be visited.
Under Mr. Reagh’s ministry the parish had its first “Mission”. In Advent, 1883, he began special services in St. Thomas’s, and he conducted similar services in Irishtown from February, 1884. In July Confirmation classes were begun, and in August, 1884, eighty- six persons were presented to the Bishop for the Laying-on-of- Hands. Included in this number were a farmer and his wife, aged 86 and 79. Mr. Reagh wrote:
It was a sight long to be remembered to see grandparents with their grandchildren, fathers and mothers with their sons and daughters, kneeling together to receive the solemn rite administered by our venerable and beloved Bishop . . . Looking back over the present year it almost seems to have been a little Pentecost, if one may use such a term. I can truly say it was the happiest year of my life.
In that year plans were laid for building a new church in Ken- sington, and the work was finally undertaken in April, 1885. Mr. Reagh wrote:
The building is now partly finished. About $1000 has been expended in the work, and we hope to have the
