GENGE, Raymond Victor was born in Port—aux—Basques, Newfoundland

on September 22nd, 1922 and is the son of George Thomas and Annie 1 t

Irene Vardy.

Ray married Daisy Hambley (b. 1925, d. 1984) who was born in Winsloe,

P.E.I., the daughter of William and Emily Roach. Ray and Daisy were married June 9th, 1947 in Charlottetown and moved to DeSable

in 1963. t

Daisy and Ray had two children: Roy (b. 1948) in Charlottetown and Shirley (b. 1950) in Charlottetown. Roy married Veda Beaton

and Shirley married John Cruickshank.

Roy and his family now reside in New Brunswick and Shirley and

her family live in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Ray owns and operates the DeSable Motel. This property was originally

owned by John David MacFarlane. Ray purchased the property from

Bill Allen. The property consisted of a two story house and farm

buildings. It now consists of the original house, a new barn and

a 16 unit Motel plus living quarters.
