SHAW, Malcolm Archibald, (1907 1971) was born in DeSable and

is buried in Argyle Shore Cemetery. Archibald's parents were Neil v

Shaw and Margaret MacPhail.

[Archibald married Margaret Isabelle Matheson, bOrn 1908 in Riverdale

the daughter of James Lemuel Matheson and Rebecca MacPhee.

Archibald and Margaret had two children: James Chester (b. December 15th, 1941) and Flora Annita (b. May 23rd, 1945). James married

Donna Marjorie Wilson in October of 1960. Annita married Harold

Ambrose Smith in August of 1962.

Archibald's siblings: Myron LeRoy and half brothers— (Mac) Neil Shaw, Frank, John (Jack) and Chester.

Margaret's siblings: John Alexander, Katherine Ellen, Martha Euphemia

(d), and Annie Mae.

Archibald resided in DeSable all his life and took over the family * farm when his father died. On November 9th, 1940 Archie married

Margaret. Together they farmed a mixed farm for the next thirty

years until Archie took ill.

Archie and Margaret both belonged to the DeSable Free Church of

Scotland. Archie was always a keen conversationalist and kept abreast

of provincial and federal politics.

It is interesting to note that Archie's father, Neil, was one of ,9 the road building crew who built the first road through DeSable. As well, Archie was instrumental in getting the road paved two

miles south of the Trans Canada Highway in the late fifties.

All of the out buildings (barn, henhouse, machine sheds and garage)

have been demolished. The only out building left is the pump house
