It was sometimes said of these people by their

PHANTOM SHIP or NORTHUMBERLAND STRAIT ~ The appear- ' ances of the Phantom Ship of Northumberland Strait has been reported from time to time since the first
settlers in DeSable landed on the South Shore.
This burning ghost ship always appeared, it was told, at intervals of some years and then, usually in the month'of October although sighted and reported from both the Nova Scotia and Island shore in the winter
of 1943.
With me I have my diary of October 14, 1914 on which date faithfully made entry -- "Coming home from ;
Victoria with Father and brother Howard in cart -
saw ghost ship offshore".
