Late in 1982 a call was issued to Rev. Jack Chiang , M.Div ., S.T.M ., a native of Taiwan who had worked for the Presbyterian Church in Saskatchewan for a number of years and who was minister for the three-point Ontario charge of South Monaghan , Fowler's Creek, and Millbrook in the Peterborough- Lindsay Presbytery . Rev. Mr. Chiang , his wife Ruth, and their young daughter Hannah, arrived in Sherwood early in December 1982. A service of induction was held by the Presbytery of P.E.I , on December 10th, 1982, at which Rev. Mr. Chiang was installed as the minister for the congregations of St. Mark's and St. Columba. He preached his first sermon on December 12th. The bank loan which had been incurred to help pay for the manse was paid off late in December 1983, leaving as the only long-term debt a small mortgage on the manse owing to the Presbyterian Church in Canada . In 1984 the Senior Class of the Church School, under the direction of Mrs. Davida Stewart , invited the various church groups to participate in a Bible Quiz, an enjoyable contest which has become an annual event. 12
