I don't know as they ever made a fortune on it but it was a nice day. It was the day that people liked to get together, you know, and visit one another. It was a nice get-together. [The teas] quit when Rev. [Donald] Nicholson was here, wasn't it? Wasn't it he that didn't approve of it? He didn't approve of money exchange at the church, or something. Christmas Cake The Christmas cake I make now is a lot different from [the one I made for the teas]. It's one of the recipes I got from my daughter. It's just a small cake: there's only four eggs in it. It's a really good recipe. And it's really simpler. It makes a nice cake. Always made a light one and a dark one for Christmas. I haven't any on hand right now, to tell the truth, but I only finished it up...last week. Courtesy Jean Hornby Kate in 1984. 203
