Angus Leslie at the Qfi’ic'ial opening of the new Beach Grove Home, 1986.

two days in the mill. You know, wages was only small. I’d get home about three o’clock, put off my clothes, have a little rest, get up in the morning, walk to my work. I had to do that. I didn’t want to lose my job. And I had to be there at seven o’clock sharp, when the mill would start.

Fiddle Lore

The way I’d take care of [my fiddle], I’d keep it nice and tidy and everything, put her out of the reach of anyone that could get a hold of her to play her. I’d do that but I wasn’t mean or anything like that. But I wouldn’t loan it to anybody to go to play and me not go myself.
