was a lot of houses at the comer, must have been a half a dozen that’s not there now. They were tore down you know.
There was one time at that Comer I had four aunts. My mother and four of her sisters...were married at that Corner, lived at that Corner. One was married to Captain Murdoch F inlayson: one was married to Dougald Cantelo: one was married to Sam Penny: and one was married to Baxter Hubley: and my mother.
There was four sea captains lived at the Comer. They all had schooners. There was Captain Murdoch Finlayson, he lived where Lester MacRae is living now. That was his home. There was Captain Malcolm lived [at] Jack Docherty’s comer there. That was his home. And there was Captain Bell. Well, he lived across the other bridge. That’s where he lived. And then there was Captain McInnis.
Oh, there was a lot of ships tied up here. You bet. Lord, I can remember myself when there was five or six. But, before that, my uncle used to tell me they’d be anchored in the both rivers. Couldn’t get in to the wharves you know. No room. They’d be anchored, waiting to get in to load other stuff — potatoes and lumber and everything you could think of; cattle and everything. That was before my time.
