Work for general repairs to the school: furniture, fences, painting of school, maps, etc., and assist with many worthy causes. Although small in numbers, by cooperating and working together much good work is accomplished. CONWAY organized September, 1921, first meeting was held at Mrs. W. J. MacKay’s on October 4, 1921. Miss Bessie Carruth- ers was Supervisor. Officers: Hon. Pres., Mrs. David Smith, Pres., Mrs. W. J. MacKay, Vice-Pres., Mrs. Elige Palmer, Sec. Treas., Miss Katie O’Halloran. Directors: Mrs. John Miller, Mrs. R. C. Henderson, Mrs. H. Bryan. The Women’s Institute has made the school their chief project since it was organized; buy books and supplies, and have a furnished room in the new school. Erected a monument and plaque in memory of the boys who fought in first world war. Three Charter members are living in the district. Sponsor collections for charities and help those in need in the district. COLEMAN organized November 9, 1931 by Miss Haszard, Supervisor. Pres., Mrs. J. B. Crozier, Vice-Pres., Mrs. James Arsen- ault, Sec. Treas., Mrs. C. W. MacWilliams. Have painted the school, bought extra land and improved the school grounds. A Flag Pole and fence have been erected. MILO organized by Miss Schurman May 27, 1928. Pres., Miss Ruby MacLean, Vice-Pres., Mrs. Ivan MacLean, Sec. Treas., Miss Pearl Craig. Sponsored Sewing Clubs, music lessons, and have had the Handcraft Van in the community. Assisted with Public Library in O’Leary. Special projects have been the Community Hall and the school. Sponsor collections for many worthy causes, to mention a few, Prince County Hospital, Provincial Sanatorium, Y.M.C.A. Collect old woollens for Blanket project. Plays and concerts have been spon- sored by this group. Adopted a deaf and dumb orphan girl in Halifax 1929 and paid her expenses. KELVIN GROVE organized May 9th, 1927, by Miss Jane Mac- Kenzie. Officers: Pres., Mrs. Harold Laird, Vice Pres., Mrs. M. Stav- ert, Sec. Treas., Miss Anne Matheson and Mrs. Bertha Walker. The latter was president of one of the first District Conventions. Mrs. Harold Laird was prominent in promoting the Drama Festival, served as Provincial President and is now Editor of the “Federated News" (National). This group entered several Drama Festivals. The community and school won first awards in the Rural Beautification Competitions, and second prize was won in a Maritime Home Planning Contest.
