This group has toiled patiently in overcoming individual and collective problems and aspire to great things in the future by having as their goal, the slogan of “Home and Country.” BROOKFIELD organized November 13, 1933 by Miss Haszard. Officer, Mrs. John Weeks. Four members have been made honorary members, (one has since passed away). Main efforts have been for community and school, and work for Red Cross and U.S.C. Collect and contribute to many worthy causes. VICTORIA organized March 16, 1921. Miss Carruthers, as- sistant supervisor. Officers: President, Mrs. Donald Murchison; Vice President, Mrs. Louisa Dougherty; Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. K. C. Holm, Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Miss Lillian Trowsdale. Purchased new stoves, and piano for their Hall and paid off the mortgage on same also furnished an Institute room in the Hall. Bought treats and cod liver oil capsules for pupils, sponsored swim-- ming classes and sewing classes. Contributed to P.E.I. Hospital. Remembered sick and shut-ins. Contribute to charitable orga- nizations. AUGUSTINE COVE Institute was organized October 1939, under the supervision of Miss Mary MacDonald. The first President was Mrs. Kenneth Cameron and the Secretary, Mrs. Harold Howatt. We entered our school in the rural Beautification Contest and took second prize. HAMPTON was organized by Miss Mary MacDonald on De— cember 8, 1947. The first officers were: President, Mrs. (Rev.) T. G. Head; Vice President, Mrs. George P. Dunford; Secretary-Treas— urer, Mrs. Edwin Ferguson. Our work has been mainly for our Hall and School. We also planted trees through our village. We had plywood put on the inside of the school, renovated the inside of the Hall, shingled it and had the inside and outside painted. Music Teacher was secured for school. WESTMORELAND was organized October 1, 1937 by Miss Haszard the supervisor. The first President was Mrs. Vernon Moore, the Secretary, Mrs. Bert J. Trowsdale. Westmoreland W.I. have contributed to all worthy causes, look after school and help in com- munity. The Institute members help with meals at the Crapaud Exhibition each year. MELVILLE was organized October 24, 1946, by Mary C. MacDonald. The first President was Mrs. Alex K. MacKenzie and the first Secretary, Mrs. Jack Gillis. All the work of the Institute is concerned with our school. We give generously to charitable work and various needs in the community. NORTH PINETTE organized October 30, 1939, by Miss Mary MacDonald.
