Walter Bell House . Hazel Robinson . farmer and his home was open to anyone needing a place to stay for a night, a week, or a month, while they were looking for work or working in the area. Several young men whom Walter had befriended returned to his home in the winter of 1985 and assaulted and robbed him. Walter required hospital care. Part of the Bell house was destroyed by fire in 1970, and again in 1986. The house burned to the ground early on 23 December 1989. Walter was rescued by George and Crystal Wood. Bernie Metcalfe was also living in the house and escaped uninjured. Walter sold the building lot to the Presbyterian Church. Walter lives in an apartment in the former Dixon Store in 1992.
