The Groggett farm was owned by Alexander Dunbar in 1880. John Groggett, who lived at the top of the Aboiteau Hill, and Alexander Dunbar traded properties in the late 18005 and the Groggett’s became residents of North Tryon. Alice and her son, Charles, were living with Alice’s brother, Frances Leard, in the 1891 census.

John Groggett and Alice Leard had 3 children: Margaret Jane b. 18 May 1852, no further information. Albert b. 4 Nov 1854, no further information. +Charles Samuel b. 20 Aug 1856.
