Richard and Mary sailed from Hull, Yorkshire, England, on the ship Valiant and landing in Charlottetown in 1818. They settled in Tryon on the property now owned by Ruth Standish, where Richard was a farmer.
Past and Present, p. 696, describes Richard Lea’s farm and his generosity: His original holdings were quite extensive, but he has given to his children several highly improved farms, together with good residences.
