Hmnilton and Jennie lived on the Crossroad, first in the Joseph Wood house. This house was passed from Joseph to his son John and his wife, Sarah Wadman, and on their deaths to their daughter, Carrie Wood. Ham Leard and Jennie Thomson moved in with Ham’s Aunt Carrie and farmed the land. Ham sold the homestead in 1930 to Burpee and Norine Thomas Carr and Ham and Jennie moved to the James Thomson house. Earle and Mabel Clarke Sawler bought the house from Burpee and Norine in 1933. It was sold and moved through the woods in 1953 to Harry Dawson’s farm on the River Road. Richard Newsome bought the farmland. The timber in the Joseph Wood house is hand- hewn and the joints are mitered indicating that the house must have been built in the early 18003.
