Alice b. 11 Nov 1777, d. 4 March 1809, bur. Tryon Peoples Cem., m. 20July 1798John Baker, b. 17 Feb 1776, d. 22 Oct 1852, bur. North Bedeque. They had 6 children. John was a farmer and a blacksmith.

Elizabeth Betsy b. 15 June 1780, d. 6 Feb 1852, another date given is 23 Nov 1868, bur. Tryon Peoples Cem., m. 29 Oct 1799 John Clark, b. 1772, d. 16 Feb 1851, bur. Tryon Peoples Cem.. They lived in Tryon.

John The Elder b. England, 6 Feb 1766, d. 23 Feb 1838, bur. Tryon Peoples Cem., son ofJohn Lord and Elizabeth Cotterell, m. 31July 1787 Charlotte Gouldrup, b. France or Quebec, 1767, d. 17 Sept. 1842, bur. Tryon Peoples Cem., daughter of Henry andJane Gouldrup.

John achieved his lifelong ambition in the election of 1834 when he won a seat in the provincial assembly as a representative of Prince County which, at that time, was one voting district with four members. John had been a captain in the 2nd. Battalion of the Militia, as well as aJustice of the Peace. In the 1798 censusJohn was living with his father in Tryon. The PEI Militia General Order Book notes where John Lord was unable to assert authority and unable to order his men into company ranks. His name was struck from the roll of officers and he was subjected to a fine. A letter written byJohn’s great grandson, dated

26 May 1892, states thatJohn held 600 acres of land at Tryon which he later parcelled out to his sons,James, William Warren, andJoseph.

John Lord and Charlotte Gouldrup had 12 children:

Elizabeth b. 6 Feb 1790, d. 6 Nov 1852, bur. Tryon Peoples Cem., m. 17 Nov 1814 William Wright, b. North Bedeque 10 Sept 1791, d. 17 May 1875, bur. Pugwash, NS. They had 7 children and lived in Victoria. William built the house that is occupied by Gerard Rutten in 1992.

William Warren W.W. b. 11 Feb 1798, d. 9 May 1890, bur. Tryon Peoples Cem.. m. 7Jan 1826 Ann Lea, b. 23 Apr 1800, d. 16July 1895, bur. Tryon Peoples Cem., daughter of Richard Lea and Mary Burn. See Lea history. W.W. was a Charlottetown merchant, ship owner, politi- cian, and bank director. He built the Tryon Hall and donated it to the community, and brought Irish settlers on his ships to settle Kelly’s Cross. W.W. and Ann had no children, but adopted a nephew, Artemus.
