Peoples Cem., daughter of Joseph Wood and Isabella Leard . See Wood history. John Squire settled in North Tryon and on reaching manhood became the owner of a large milling business Gouldrup's Mills. He was also a Justice of the Peace and, following in his father's footprints, was called the poor man's friend. Some family historians believe Rachael did not marry following John's death but spent her final years at her son John's home bedfast, the result of falling down stairs. However, George Leard , an Island Historian, believed Rachael married twice, first to a Mr. Howatt , and then to a Mr. Leard . John Squire Lord and Rachael Wood had 5 children: John A. b. 9 Nov 1826, d. 19 March 1892, m. 10 Feb 1857 Margaret Crawford , b. 1 Aug 1829, d. 16 June 1897.
