Fred and Toots lived in Moncton. They returned to North Tryon in 1952 and lived in the Lefurgey home with Toots’ parents, Max and Georgie. Fred was a transport driver before accepting a position with the Department of Highways as a scale operator at Borden. Toots was a member of the North Tryon Women’s Institute.

The history of the Albany Baptist Little Zion Church by Muriel Boulter MacKay records the following ceremony:

In june 1947 a wedding took place in the church. As far as is known it was the only wedding ever held in Little Zion: Mildred Lefurgey to Fred Mitchell OfMoncton, NB. Mildred, a daughter of Max and Georgie Manson Lefurgey is a descendent of a long list of Lefurgeys from the great, great grandfather down who were loyal supporters of this church.
