George Howard b. 14 Apr 1939, son of Raymond Wood and Adelaide Ives, m. 30 June 1983 Ione Gladys Wright, b. 11 May 1938, daughter of Kenneth Wright and Olive Drummond.

George and Ione lived in an apartment in the Butter Factory, and in an upstairs apartment in Raymond’s house, before they bought the Otto Johnson house. A Mr. MacDonald was the first owner of this property then Philip Lord, Howard Callbeck, and Otto Johnson. Otto farmed until 1958 when he sold the property to Vernon Inman. George and Ione bought the house and lot in 1962 from the Inmans. The house was destroyed by fire in the fall of 1978. The family lived in Mildred Clark’s house in Tryon for a year while they built a new house where the old house stood. Both George and Ione have had several profes- sions. George famed for a number of years before he became a plumber. He works for Marine Atlantic in Borden as well. Ione taught school in Tryon before her children were born and after they were grown, she also became an employee at Marine Atlantic. They attend the Tryon United Church and Ione was a member of the North Tryon Women’s Institute.

George Wood and Ione Wright had 4 children;

Noelle Olive b. 10 Nov 1965, BA, LlB, articling in Toronto. Crystal Adelaide b. 9 Aug 1968, BSc in Nursing, working in Florida. Ashley Wright b. 5Jan 1971.
