First Education Act passed.

First Board of Education appointed.

Central Academy opened.

First Official Inspector of Schools appointed.

First Teachers’ Association formed.

Free Education Act passed.

St. Dunstan’s College opened.

Provincial Normal School established.

Prince of \Vales College established.

Public Schools’ Act passed, and a Department of Education instituted.

Prince of Wales College and Provincial Normal School amalgamated, and Ladies admitted to the College.

Arbor Day established for the Schools.

Provincial Teachers’ Association founded.

Provincial Teachers’ Association incorporated.

New Prince of Wales College erected.

The Provincial Teachers’ Association meeting annually. and the Charlottetown Teachers’ Institute which meets fortnightly during the winter, are flourishing organizations, doing much to promote the cause of education.
