On May 27, 1891, Mr. Clow married Miss Katherine J. MacLean, a daughter of James and Margaret (Johns- ton) MacLean, both natives of Scotland, while she was born at Peter’s Road. Prince Edward Island. To them have been born two children: I Stella and James Alex- ander.
ROBERT VVHITEWAY, a highly respected citizen of this county and the present ca- pable clerk of the county court, was born at Briton, County Devon, England, on June I 3, 1830, and came to Prince Edward Island in 1843. His parents, Robert and Rachel (Bennett) Whiteway, were both natives of England, as was the paternal grandfather, Josiah Whiteway, who was a successful coal merchant.
The subject of this sketch received a somewhat limited education in the schools at Briton and after his arrival in Prince Edward Island his first active labour was as clerk at Charlottetown, in which manner he was employed for about three andaone-half years. He then came to Murray River and here followed different occupations, includ- ing that of farming. He also built a schooner and in this transported his own farm produce up to 1892. About 1897 he began the management of D. C. Cameron's business, the latter having his residence at Montague Bridge, in which occupation Mr. Whiteway is still engaged. Politically he is a Conservative and was appointed to the offices of justice of the peace and commis- sioner for the collection of small debts.

After the confederation in 1873, Mr. White- way was appointed a clerk of the county court of Kings county at Murray River, and has since also been appointed commis- sioner for the acknowledgement of deeds and commissioner for the taking of affi- davits in the Supreme Court. On June 10, 1850, Mr. Whiteway was united in mar- riage to Miss Barbara McLeod, a daughter of David and Barbara (McKay) McLeod. To this union have been born nine children, of whom seven are living, namely: John; Hulda, deceased; Barbara, deceased; Sarah J.; Robert; Rachel; Mary; George A. and David M. Mr. Whiteway is a man of more than ordinary ability and has performed the duties of his various offices to the entire sat- isfaction of the people. The family move in the best social circles and are highly esteemed throughout the community.
ANGUS MURDICK Ross, a successful mer- chant and druggist and public spirited citi- zen residing at Murray River, Kings county, was born at Belfast, Prince Edward Island, on November 22, 1870, a son of William and Christina (McLeod) Ross, the former a native also of Belfast and the lat- ter of Uigg, this Island. The father followed farming as an occupation throughout his active years and occupied a high standing in the community. He held various politi— cal positions of trust and importance. and was for forty years an elder of the Belfast Presbyterian church. The paternal grand- parents were Donald and Margaret (Mac- Donald) Ross, natives of the Isle of Skye, Scotland, who came to Prince Edward Island in 1803 on the historic ship “Polly.” Here the grandparents followed the pursuit
