Peter, who went to South Wales many years ago; Mrs. Joseph McDonald, of Little Pond; Mrs. Daniel McCormack, and Mrs. Ronald McCormack, of St. George’ 5. His father, Angus Walker, came to Prince Edward Island in young manhood from West Scot— land and here married Miss Sarah McPhee, a native of Scotland who came to Prince Edward Island at the age of thirteen years with her parents, John and Margaret (Mc— Phee) McPhee, who settled, lived and died at Launching Place. An uncle of Mrs. Camp- bell’s, Patrick Walker, served in the Provin- cial Legislative Council for many years and occupied a prominent position in public af— fairs. His death occurred at Charlottetown and his widow subsequently became the wife of ex-Lieut. Gov. Peter A. McIntyre.
EZRA D. FRASER, a well known farmer and successful merchant at North Lake, Kings county, was born on the farm on which he now resides, in 1854, and has always lived here. He is a son of Donald Fraser, born at South Lake in 1829, and who died at North Lake in I900, at the age of seventy years. He was a farmer all his life, Operating the farm which now belongs to the subject, and was engaged in milling at Bayfield, Lot 46, for many years, operat- ing flour and lumber mills. The paternal grandfather, Alex Fraser, came to Prince Edward Island from Edinburgh, Scotland, and took up land at South Lake, where he lived and died. He was a pioneer in that locality, taking his land without any improvements and creating of it a splendid and attractive farm. He was an active mem- ber of East Point Baptist church and a dea- con in the same, a justice of the peace and

took an active part in local public affairs. He was also a leader in the Agricultural Society of Prince Edward Island and was active in the work of distributing trees to needy farmers. He was a man of wide intelligence, having been well educated in the schools of Edinburgh, Scotland, and was highly esteemed wherever known. He had four brothers, one of whom, William, remained in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he owned a hack and buss business and became wealthy. Another brother, John, was an oflicer in the British army in Canada for a time, and still another brother, Robert, went to Australia, where he attained consider- able prominence, being the government leader in the Parliament there. Another brother, whose name is not known, was an officer in the British army in South America and upon the completion of his military ser- vice he secured a pension and settled in the United States, his descendants now living in W'altham, Massachusetts. Alex Fraser was the father of the following children: Don- ald, the father of the subject of this sketch; Alex, a farmer of South Lake, Prince Edward Island; John, deceased; Robert, deceased; Margaret became the wife of Alex Robertson, of Munn’s Road, deceased; Jes- sie, deceased; Isabella and Christie, both of South Lake. Donald Fraser married Miss Elizabeth McVane, a daughter of Alex and Emily (Macdonald) McVane, the latter a daughter of James Macdonald, of Kings- boro, and a native of Perthshire, Scotland. Alex McVane was also born in Scotland and was a pioneer settler of Bothwell, Prince Edward Island, where he followed farming and also built and operated a flour mill. Ezra D. Fraser was reared under the parental roof and in his youth received a good district school education. He was
