On September 23, 1903, Doctor Mac- Neill married Miss Ruby Darrach, a daugh- ter of Doctor Darrach. of Kensington, Prince Edward Island. The Doctor is a member of the Prince Edward Island Med- ical Association, while his other fraternal re— lations are with the Masons (in which he is serving as worshipful master of Mount Leb- anon Lodge, No. 6, of Summerside), the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the In- dependent Order of Foresters and the Ca- nadian Order of Foresters.

ALEXANDER MCDONALD, who owns and operates a fine farm and is also extensively engaged in lobster packing at Point Prim, Lot 57, is a native son of this province. hav- ing been born at Pinnette Bridge, Lot 58. His father, the late John McDonald, of Pin- nette, was a sucessful farmer and contractor, and built a number of good bridges for the government, including the Vernon River Bridge, the Seal River Bridge and others. He died in 1897, at the age of sixty-four years. The paternal grandfather. John McDonald, came to Prince Edward Island on the ship “Polly” in 1803, at the age of twelve years, accompanying his father, John McDonald, from their native land, the Isle of Syke, Scotland. They settled at Pinnette and there engaged in farming. the place being now owned and operated by the sub- ject’s brother, John McDonald. The grand- father married Miss Annie McDonald, who

was born at Orwell Point, a daughter of Donald McDonald, a passenger on the ship “Polly” from Kaloss, Scotland. The sub- ject’s mother, who bore the maiden name of Effie McDonald, was a daughter of Capt. Donald Hector Macdonald, of Point Prim, farmer and sea captain, who at that time owned the place which is now the home of the subject of this sketch. Captain Mac- donald, who was born at Point Prim, was a son of Hector Macdonald. To John and Annie Macdonald were born the following children: John Small; Flora, the wife of Roderick McLeod and mother of Judge Neil McLeod, of Summerside; Donald. of Mor— rell. was a sea captain; Christie: John. the subject’s father; Effie: Roderick; Dr. John B., who was also a Baptist preacher and whose death occurred in Dakota; Ra- chel, wife of Hector McInnis, of Pinnette; Captain Roderick, deceased, who was a sea captain. To John and Effie McDonald were born the following children: Alexander, the subject of this article; Donald Hector, who died in South America, at which time he was second mate on the ship “Hector”; Annie became the wife of Baxter Hubley, of Pinnette; Kate, wife of Douglas Cantelo. of Pinnette; John J.. of Pinnette; Mary. the wife of Robert Ross. of Pinnette: Maria. wife of Peter Panny, of Eldon; Janie, wife of Samuel Penny, a merchant at Pinnette; Roderick. deceased, and Florence. wife of.
