George Forbes Dewar received ‘his ele- mentary education in the grammar school -at New Perth, supplementing this by attend- ance in the Prince of \Vales College, from which institution he obtained a first class teacher’s license. In 1889 he entered the medical department of the McGill Univer- sity, of Montreal, where he was graduated in 1893, with the degrees of Doctor of Med- icine and Master of Surgery, standing first among the maritime province graduates of that year. Immediately after receiving his degree he returned to Prince Edward Island and entered upon the practice of his profes- sion at Southport. where he has since re- sided. From the beginning he has enjoyed the absolute confidence of his community and has commanded a large and representa— tive practice. He is a man of pleasing ap- pearance and fine personal qualities and justly merits the esteem in which he is held. He is a member of the Prince Edward Island Medical Association. the Maritime Medical Association and the Canadian Medical As- sociation.‘ On June 19, 1900, Doctor De- war married Miss Marion Isabella McLeod, a daughter of the late Norman. McLeod, who was a successful merchant at Charlottetown. The Doctor is a member of the Montague Christian church and is a Conservative in politics. Fraternally he is a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters and the Inde- pendent Order of Foresters.

DONALD DARRACH, an enterprising and successful merchant and druggist at Ken- sington, Prince county, was born at \V'est River, Prince Edward Island, on October 25, 1845, and is a son of John and Isabella (McNeill) Darrach, natives also of the same

place, where the father followed farming and shipbuilding. The grandparents came from Scotland. After acquiring a good elemen- tary education in the district school of his native place, Mr. Darrach. in 1862, entered Prince of \Vales College, at Charlottetown, having secured a two years’ scholarship. Upon the conclusion of his studies there, he accepted a position as clerk in the Charlotte- town postoflice, where he remained one year. He then studied medicine under the instruc- tion of the late Doctors Hammond and Rich- ard Johnson, after which he attended Har- vard Medical College and Bowdoin Medical College, being graduated from both institu- tions, and also became a member of the Mas- sachusetts Medical Society. He located in Margate, Prince county, in 1871, and prac- ticed his profession there and at Kensington until 1883, when he retired therefrom and gave his whole time to the drug business, which he had started and which he has con- ducted during the past twenty-five years. In 1885 he purchased an interest in the general mercantile business of Reuben Tiplin, which he now owns and manages. He has con- ducted the same with ability and success. In business, as well as professionally, he has won the appreciation and good will of the large community which he served. Polit- ically. the Doctor is a Liberal. taking that word in its broadest sense. Oflicially he is a justice of the peace and coroner for the county. In religion his views are also of the broadest, yet with firm convictions.

On February 25, 1875. the Doctor mar- ried Miss Tryphena Tiplin, a daughter of Reuben and Harriet Tiplin, natives of Devonshire, England. Their children are Ruby, the wife of Dr. John F. McNeill. of Summerside; Waldin, residing in Boston, Massachusetts; Don Carlos. in British
