ARCHIBALD ALEXANDER MCNEILL was born at West River, this Island, on October 16, 1864, and is a son of Alexander and Barbara (Shaw) McNeill, and a grandson of Dugald and Catherine (McPhee) Mc- Neill.

Dugald McNeill was born in Collins, Scotland, and was there educated. He came to Prince Edward Island in an early day, locating at West River, where he followed farming throughout his life. He was a Liberal in politics, and a Presbyterian in re- ligion, being an elder of his church. Of his marriage with Catherine McPhee four chil- dren were born, Donald, Alexander, Mary and Ann.

Alexander McNeill was born at West River in 1822, was educated in the district schools and followed farming throughout his active years, dying in December, 1888. He, also, was a Liberal in politics and a Presbyterian in religion. He married Miss Barbara Shaw, a daughter of Archie Shaw, and they had five children: Dugald, of Winnipeg: Archie A., the subject of this sketch; Malcolm, of Alberton; Alexander, who keeps the light at the Block House; and Barbara Ann, who married Anthony Matthews and is now living at Chatham,

New Brunswick.

Archibald A. McNeill was educated in the district schools of Lot 65, and upon com- pleting his education he took up farming, which occupation he still successfully car- ries on. His place consists of one hundred and eighteen acres, nearly all of which is under cultivation, and well improved with a full set of modern farm buildings. The gen- eral appearance of the place indicates the owner to be a man of up-to—date ideas. He has for many years been a member and trustee of the Presbyterian church, and was

ordained elder of same in September, 1905. In politics he gives an ardent support to the Liberal party.

On February 15, 1882, Mr. McNeill married Miss Christy Ann, a daughter of Malcolm and Flora (McPhail) McPhail. To them were born three children: Barbara Florence May, who was married Septem- ber 12, 1905, to John Taylor, and is now living in Moyer, British Columbia; Jose-

,phine Alexander, and Bessie Jemina, the

two last still at home.

The subject gives an active support to all measures looking to the best interests of his community, and enjoys the confidence of all who know him.

ARCHIBALD MACGREGOR is a native son of Prince Edward Island, having been born at Nine Mile Creek on December 27. 1827. His paternal grandfather, Archibald Mac- Gregor, was a native of Scotland and mar- ried Miss Ann McCall, of which union five children were born, Malcolm, Isabella (wife of John Livingston), Betsey (wife of Alexander Ross), Margaret (who be- came the wife of a Mr. De Frender), and Mary (who married Peter McMahan). The grandfather was a faithful member of the Scotch kirk, and died in 1828.

Malcolm MacGregor, the subject’s fa- ther, was born in Tubeemurry, Scotland. in 1796. and came to Prince Edward Island in 1810 in the ship “Phanix” of North Shields. He was an accomplished Gaelic scholar, and for many years taught school in Charlotte- town Royalty. His death occurred on May 22, 1878, he being then eighty—two years old. He voted with the Liberal party dur- ing all his mature life, and was a member
