feeding them. We had to watch the old gander, he was very cross; he gave me a bad biting and slapping once, that I did. not forget; his teeth were sharp and he punched melwith his bony elbows. The old turkey gobbler was fierce, we had to keep out of his reach. He would strut about and show off his great tail and blow himself red in the face, and make himself look ridiculous. When we mimicked his hoarse gobble he would get very angry and chase us. The ducks had comical ways; they would go in line, with a peculiar roll of their bodies, as if they had no joints in their legs.
Home Pets
The little pups and kittens and guinea-pigs were our chief house pets; they were always ready for fun and frolic. There was always something to keep us busy and interested. We had a general good time with some troubles and mishaps mixed in to keep us alert and make
us watchful and careful.
