I heard that in another school the trustees were visiting, the mas- ter asked the scholars, "Who signed the Magna Charta?” The scholars were in dread that some of them had done something wrong. O‘ne boy spoke up “I did not sign it, Sir.” The master was so ashamed of the boy’s ignorance that he told him to take his seat. One of the trustees said to the master, "Call that boy back I believe he did sign it.” We should be grateful for school privileges and make good use of them. THE OLD CHURCH This church building was erected in 1833. It was the first Protestant Church edifice erected on Eastern Prince Edward Island from East Point to Souris or farther west. When it was replaced by a better one, it was used as a schoolhouse .for many years. So that from this picture we may see What the pioneer church edifices and schoolhouses looked like.
