Explanatory These "Chapters in Our Island Story/' were written for The Guardian newspaper. In response to the requests of many per¬ sons they are now published in book form. It is possible that they may not be found absolutely correct in every particular. But it is hoped that they may be regarded as comprising a condensed and generally truthful account of the development of Prince Edward Island from the forest primeval to the position of a Province of the Dominion of Canada in the British Empire.
