Lighthouse - East Point

An Act was passed on May ll, 1866 by which seven hundred and fifty pounds were to be used to defray the expense of erecting a lighthouse at East Point.

Violin Championship

Neil Cheverie, Elmira, won the Maritime Fiddling Champion— ship here in 1926 and went to Boston for an International Competi- tion where he placed second. He received many congratulatory telegrams, a silver cup and a gold medal.

Pavement

Pavement came east as far as Johnnie's Service Station in 1957. The crushed gravel used in the mix was supplied from Iona and the sand was supplied by MacDonald's at Norris Pond, near Souris.
