The first Aberdeen Angus Registered Cattle were landed at Charles Point (now Belmont Park) and were driven through the woods to Richards in Port Hill. Some of them were sent to Ontario and their off spring spread all over Canada. Today, most all farmers in Belmont raise cattle for beef or dairy purposes, or both, the most common breeds being Shorthorn, Hereford, and Holstein There are also a few Aberdeen Angus and Charolais.
