As this property did not border on the , Alvin purchased in 191^ three acres of land from his father, Lewis Yeo on the corner of the and on which he built a house for himself and his wife Hazel MacLaurin , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James MacLaurin . Alvin also built barns on this three acres. In 1926 he purchased 60 acres from Major Barrett . This land is directly behind the 50 acres that he purchased in 1904. It faces the and borders on land now owned by Sterling Thompson . Alvin sold the 60 acres in 1948 to Harold Yeo and the 50 acres to Earl MacLaurin in 1954. As Alvin and Hazel had no family, after their death the house and lot were sold in 1970 to Robert Arnold , an officer in the C.A.F. In 1972 Mr. Arnold was transferred and Mr. J. D. Murphy purchased the house and now resides there. Mr. Murphy is employed at the Canadian and Mrs. Murphy formerly Audrey Rees is a regisĀ¬ tered nurse. MRS . FRANK SIMONS In 1869 Charlotte Sullivan of England gave a 99 year lease of this farm to John W. Perkins . It was later taken over by Francis Simmons , and then in 1897 by Robert Simmons who farmed it until he was drowned, leaving a young family of four: Henry, Frank, Pearle (later Mrs. Albert Phi 11ips) and Arthur. Mrs. Robert Simmons was married again to Edward Birch who lived there until Robert Simmons ' son Frank took over the farm in 1913- Frank married Myrtle Barrett and they had five children: Pearle who married Ralph Monkley , Eldred who married Violet Ramsay , Vera who married Arthur Barnett , Ralph who married Dorothy Richardson , and Geraidine who married Kenneth Campbell . Pearle had 8 children: Edith ( Mrs. Frank Mac Culley ), Elaine ( Mrs. Ronald Leard ), Arlene ( Mrs. Bannerman Craig ), Dorothy ( Mrs. Willis MacLean ), Anna ( Mrs. Allison Noye ) , Catherine ( Mrs. Warren Grant ) now deceased, Elizabeth ( Mrs. Vernon MacLean ) and Sandra. 69
