On June 10, 1925, Crapaud Methodist Church entered union. After this date we were no longer known as Methodists, but as the United Church of Canada. This made it necessary to again re—arrange the cir- cuit. Tryon circuit fared rather badly by this re—arrangement, as it left only Tryon and Crapaud on the circuit. Nevertheless, with the help of the fine new members we gained by union, and the unselfish under- standing of our ministers, the circuit was able to carry on until 1943. Cape Traverse was again added to the Tryon-Crapaud circuit. These three churches comprise the circuit to the present day.
In 1929 the late William Collett bequeathed the Church five hund- red dollars to be used for repairs and beautifying the Church. In 1931 new windows were put in and the Church painted.
In the summer of 1946 the Spire was struck by lightning and set on fire. The Crapaud firemen soon had a stream of water turned on the blaze, and, when the fire brigade from Victoria arrived and turned an— other stream on, the fire was soon brought under control. A great many people, including our Pastor, Rev. J. A. Jardine, received a rather cool bath that night. This necessitated extensive repairs to the Spire, and re— decorating the interior of the entire Church.
In 1952 the Stordy family gave the Church five hundred dollars, in memory of their sister, Elizabeth Jane Stordy, part of which was used to purchase an individual Communion Set, suitably engraved. In 1952 a furnace was installed, doing away with stoves and stove-pipe.
Other recent bequests were: gifts of Hymn books from Mr. George Fall, in memory of his wife; Hymn books from Miss Muriel MacLean; and a gift in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cameron from their daughters, Mrs. Bert Warren and Mrs. Hibbert Howatt.
