CRAPAUD HEALTH CENTRE
Crapaud Health Centre was officially opened on August 11, 1953, after many months of work and planning on the part of Miss Mona Wilson, Director of Public Health Nursing in this province, who made it possible to have a new Health Centre in this area.
This centre serves 40 School districts, from New Haven to Borden, along the south shore, and extending to Breadalbane, Emerald, and Free- town on the north.
At the District Convention of the Women’s Institute at Tryon in June 1953, Miss Wilson introduced Miss Jean McGaughey, P.H.N., a recent graduate of Dalhousie University School of Nursing, who had been ap— pointed to take over the duties as Public Health Nurse as soon as the work on the building was completed, where the centre is located.

At a meeting of the Lodge on December 14, 1869, it was decided to celebrate St. John’s night with a supper at Crawford’s Hotel, Tryon. The sum of five pounds, six shillings, and nine pence was raised for the pur- pose, by subscription.
The Committee, consisting of Bros. John Lang, James R. Reid, and John Muirhead, was instructed that the supper must be on strict temper- ance principles, with no intoxicating liquors of any kind to be furnished.
At a meeting of the Lodge, held on May 14, 1872, a bill of one pound, five shillings, and five pence, was ordered paid; while at another meeting held on August 27, 1872, a bill for $25.23 was ordered paid; so that the change from pounds, shillings, and pence, to dollars and cents, would seem to have taken place between those two dates.
At a meeting of the Lodge on February 9, 1875, a delegation was appointed to attend a meeting in Summerside, for the purpose of organiz- ing an Independant Grand Lodge for Prince Edward Island.
