The following Committee was appointed to buy a suitable building :' Samuel Newsom, Peter McDonald, Colin McKay. Then, at the May,meet-~ ing, the Committee reported that they had bought a building, known as the “Old Tannery,” for two hundred and fifty dollars, which the Lodge en-r dorsed, and Brother Richard Cameron offered a lot of land to set the Hall on, which was accepted, with thanks.
A motion was then moved by Dr. H. W. Robertson, seconded by Joseph McDonald, that we apply for the privilege of holding the Orange- Tea, to raise money to pay for the building — moving, etc. The request being granted, the Orange Tea was held at Victoria, in Wesley Myers’ field. The property is now owned by Gordon McDonald.
The day being fine, with a very large attendance, the Tea proved successful — socially, as well as financially. The Orange Tea has been, under supervision of Crapaud Lodge again in the following years: 1884, 1899, 1900, 1904, 1926, 1934, 1936.
We find, according to the minutes of April, 1867, the Masonic Order rented the Lodge room for a term of years, to hold their meetings. The first County Meeting recorded was held at Crapaud in 1895, when the: Lodge entertained the members. The same courtesy is still extended by the Primary Lodge, where the County meets annually.
From 1890-1900 one meeting a month was held at Victoria in Angus Brian’s Hall, as a large number were from there; in fact, moving" the Hall to Victoria was considered, but, in 1899, it was decided to re- model the lower part of the building and furnish it for a public Hall. In 1907 the Lodge bought a lot of land from Oliver Wadman, and in 1911 the Hall was moved to the present site. The members decided it was more- convenient, and could get higher rent for the lower part of the building. The old lot was sold to Gavin Walker. During 1933 and 1934, Verner Moore was Grand Master of the Provincial Grand Lodge.
On July 12, 1876, the Lodge met and opened at 4:30 am. so the: members could attend the Orange Tea being held in Charlottetown.
On July 12, 1954, the Orange Tea was held at Crapaud in the new
Rink, sponsored by the Members of Crapaud District. The present Master (1955) is Hallett Rogerson, and the Recording Secretary, William Waddell.
