Frances Dawson, his wife, was born in Ireland the 12th of Septem- ber, 1766.

Thomas Dawson died March the 6th, 1804.”

The names of the Heartz family and the Henderson family, with date of birth are also written down.

Thomas Dawson’s daughter, Ann Margaret, the owner of this Book was born on March 18, 1789, and died in 1893, at the age of 104 years.

The reigning Sovereign of the British Empire at the time the Book was printed was King George II, who began his reign on Aug. 1, 1727.

LEATHER SHELF

Mrs. Margaret Callbeck has in her possession a Leather Shelf, which was brought from England by her Great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liam Lowther in 1819. It was given to Cornelius Lowther, a member of the first family. He gave it to his nephew, Herbert, who presented it to his daughter, Margaret. It extends down the wall in a cone shape, and is decorated with pears, grapes, etc. All beautifully made of light brown leather. At the present time it is more than one hundred and fifty years old. She also has her mother’s Autograph Album, bought in March, 1883, in which many good wishes are expressed by her friends of long ago.

EARTHEN JAR

Mrs. LeRoy Howatt has a quart jar which was made at the time of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. This jar is decorated with leaves, representing the Heather, and fruit. It has the Queen’s picture on it, also the following inscription :—

Mrs. Mark MacVittie has a very old Iron Pot, which formerly be- longed to Mrs. (Dr.) Robert Potts. This pot has three legs about the size of one’s little finger, and will hold about one quart. It was used to fry doughnuts, boil eggs or potatoes. It is eighty or ninety years old.

She also has a cupboard containing two drawers besides the cup- board space. This was bought at Dr. Pott’s Sale.
