A Sears outlet is also operating out of the Pharmacy. A government research project named A.L.F.I.E . is now renting the space formerly occupied by the Hair Salon owners who pur¬ chased a house across the street for their business operation. These professionals have been a tremendous asset to Crapaud and the surrounding areas, as well as the other facilities in the basement level. This project found support in all the surrounding areas with many donations from groups and individuals from its begin¬ ning. The Centre is quite successfully operated by a Board of Directors from Crapaud and surrounding areas. <fc CRAPAUD LIBRARY Through the years Library continued to supply reading material to Crapaud and the surrounding districts with Miss Mary Newsome as Librarian and Mrs. Thomas Best as Secretary-Treasurer. The financial needs have been met through personal contributions, donations from the Women 's Institutes, and the Crapaud Village Commission. Mrs. Norma Cudmore succeeded Mary Newsome as Librarian, resigned in 1968 and was succeeded by Mrs. Olga Stordy . She Mrs. Thomas Best tendered her resignation as Sec'y-Treas. and at a meeting held on May 8, 1969, Mrs. Florence Myers was appointed to fill the vacancy. Brent Wood was re-elected President, Mrs. Jean Canfield , Vice- President, and the following Directors were appointed: the Princi¬ pal of Englewood Regional High School, the Presidents of the W.I . and the School Principals in Crapaud and the surrounding districts, also the Clergy of the various religious denominations. In 1969 a new Chimney was installed, and minor repairs made. W. I. has supplied drapes and outside door, paint and other needed items, and in 1961 the members placed six chairs and a plaque In Memory of the late Dr. N.R. Bovyer , who had taken a great deal of interest in the Library since its inception. 40
