COMMUNITY CURLING CLUB ~ 1991 In 1975, the Club entertained the Scottish ladies tour, and have continued down through the years to entertain a number of Bonspiels. The ladies group caters to weddings and other banquets. Various other organizations make use of the facility. Over the past number of years, the Club has undergone a great many changes and improvements. The banquet room was given a face lift, kitchen was redecorated, washrooms repaired and lockers and washrooms were installed in the basement. New tables and chairs were purchased for the banquet room as was a P.A. System . The kitchen, besides being redecorated, was equipped with a microwave and two new stoves. In 1984 a new entry was built to improve the facilit>. Pictures of the lady presidents were framed and hung in the Club. In 1986 the building was painted. In 1989 the old building housing the ice sur¬ face was replaced by a new insulated one. This was a much needed improvement. It is now one of the best ice surface areas on the Island, In 1990 a first for the Club—a Bonspiel was held in August with a number of curlers coming from out of Province. A golf tournament was held at the same time. Both were very popular events. In the banquet room upstairs, the wall overlooking the ice surface is glass and makes a fine spot for watching the games. There is a similar set-up and viewing area down stairs in the lounge. Much hard work and dedication by the Club members have made this Club a very popular spot and a building of which to be proud. It has been a well-used centre for recreation and community affairs.
