MARGATE SCHOOLS

It is a known fact that there were three schools in Margate district, before the present school was built.

The first school was built on land granted by Mr. Forgan’s agent, to inhabitants of Margate for the purpose of erecting a chapel and a school. This land was near Where the present school stands, on the same side of the road. The first school we are told, was also a Temperance Hall

with one room.

The second school, built near the first, had one room when erected, but later was made into a two-room school. A hall was situated on the opposite side of the road. The upstairs or second floor was an Orange
