Ralph Adams

The property was first settled by a family named Daniel Pridham, a carpenter, who came from the “old country”. Later sold to Kenneth McKay and his wife. They had a family of four boys: Ralph, Wallace, John and Daniel. Farm was later purchased by Heath Caseley who mar- ried Ethel Clark. They have a family of six: Edith (Mrs. Bruce Riley of Baltic); Clark (married to Dorothy Hogg living in Hamilton); Velda, (Mrs. Earl Hogg of Wilmot); Willa (Mrs. Ralph Somers of Amherst); Nelson married Ruth Woodside of Margate, living in Kensington; Anna (Mrs. Douglas MacMurdo of Bedeque). This property was then sold to Joseph Woodside who married Janie Clark. They have two girls. (one boy deceased). Olive (Mrs. Everett Champion of Kensington) ; Beryl (Mrs. Claude Hogg of Kensington). This farm was later sold to Edward Adams and then purchased by his son Ralph, who married Violet Bassett of Sea View. They have a family of four boys and one girl: John, Garth, Barry, Janet and Donald.

Mrs. Preston Woodside

John Bentley and his wife Sarah Cousins came from England and bought a farm in Margate. They had a family of five: Charlotte, Han- nah, Caroline, James and John.

Hannah married John Woodside, of Clinton and they bought her father’s farm. They had two boys, Ira and Preston. John Woodside was a machinist and worked for the Massey Harris Company for some years. He had a wood working shop. where he made a lot of articles including

spinning wheels, wool winders, etc.

Preston took a course in Electrical Engineering and worked as an electrician for some years, later acquired his father’s farm. Preston mar- ried Priscilla Frizzell of Stanchel and they had a family of six:

James married Betty Peters, of Kelvin, and live in Margate. Hilbert married Joyce Peters of Kelvin, and live in Kensington. Marjorie married David Stewart and live in Hamilton, Ontario. Doris married Stan Parsons and live in St. John, NB.

Merilla married Wayne Crossman and live in Central Bedeque. Preston, J r., at home.

After her husband’s death, Mrs. Woodside sold the farm to Ralph Adams, retaining the house and five acres of land.

Blair Buell

One of our early settlers, William Pound, was born in England. In 1841, when he was quite young, his parents immigrated to P.E.I., and set- tled in Fredericton.

On Nov. 21, 1863, he married Maria Tuplin of Margate. At this time they settled in Margate where he carried on a business as carriage builder.
